DTF Cold Peel Application Instructions

1. Position Your Design

Position your transfer at the desired location on the item, taking time to guarantee perfect alignment. Flat heat presses often do not require heat-resistant tape because the design should stay in place on its own. However, for transferring designs onto headwear or applying transfers with an iron, heat-resistant tape is strongly recommended to secure the transfer. With practice, you'll instinctively know when this extra step is necessary.

2. Press

Apply the transfer with medium to heavy pressure (50 - 70 PSI) at 300°F (148°C) for 12 seconds. While the transfer can handle more heat, pressure, or time, excessive heat might damage your clothing. Always test first, and use kraft paper or a protective guard sheet to protect your garments from direct iron contact.

3.  Then cold Peel Transfer

After pressing, let your transfer rest until it is cool to the touch (minimum of 15-30 seconds). Once cool, begin peeling from one corner and work slowly. If it doesn't peel right away, stop peeling, place the transfer back down, and try these troubleshooting steps: (1.) If the design does not completely transfer and appears cool to the touch, it most likely requires further heat, pressure, or time. Re-press the transfer, increasing the time by 5-10 seconds. (2.) If that fails, gradually raise the heat by 15°F until you get the desired outcome. Rest assured that pressing it several times will not affect the transfer.

4. Final Press

Apply Kraft paper or a single layer over your design and press for an additional 5 seconds. This procedure softens the design, makes it more durable, and minimizes that glossy finish. To care for your shirt, turn it inside out before washing. Wash with cold water and dry on low heat or by hanging.
