When it comes to cutting heat transfer materials, there are typically three variables that need to be just right in order to deliver a high-quality finished product. The right blade must be used and the force & offset all be properly configured. The blade should be either a 45 or 60* blade. The force is the amount of pressure applied by the blade. Finally, the offset is distance from of the blade from the material.
In order to change the offset, click: Menu > Scroll Down to Configuration > Scroll Down to Offset. Next simply use the arrows to increase or decrease the offset. Most 45* blades as well as most materials should be set to .25, while thicker materials that use a 60 degree blade should be set between .4 - .5.
It is always a good idea to run a “test cut” before cutting a design with the vinyl. The test cut allows the user to make sure the blade and force are properly calibrated to cut the material. It involves cutting a small design: a circle with a box inside of it and a cross inside of the box. If the blade and force are at the right settings, the circle and cross can be weeded away, leaving just the box with the cross cut out of it. If the test cut weeds perfectly, you are ready to cut!
